No More Excuses

There’s a big excuse voice in the back of my head.  Seth Godin wrote about making excuses, and I feel like he was dead on.

Internal Thought: “I know I said I’d wake up at six, but another 30 mins. of sleep won’t hurt me.”

You’re right, probably won’t.  However, I’ve noticed when I let excuses like this happen, they slowly begin to happen more often, in other areas of life more serious than sleeping late. The opposite effect is also true.  The more I fight off the urge to let these excuses win, the more likely I am to ward them off in the future.

I consider this ‘self control’ training.  The little excuses in your day to day life have potentially big consequences in the long run.  The more you beat them now, the less you’ll have to worry about them later.
