With the Same Sword They Knight You, They’re Gonna Goodnight You With
I believe your biggest competition in life should be with yourself. As you push yourself, and become better, and stronger, your expectations will grow. However, not just with yourself, other peoples expectations of you will grow as well. They’ll hold you to a higher standard.
If you’re extremely neat and organized, slack off a bit, and suddenly you’re a slob. If you’re perfectly fit, gain a few pounds and you’re out of shape.
I realize to some this may seem a bit extreme. I like this pressure. I was once told by someone, “I am constantly striving to be become this perfect person that I’ll never get to become.”
Good!
I never want to be satisfied with where I am, because I know it’s always possible to get better. The only time I want to be satisfied with the person I’ve become, is the moment before I die.
Notice I used the word satisfied, instead of happy. Don’t confuse the message of this post, and think I’ll never be happy. To clarify, I’m extremely happy.
Before I begin to ramble, let me just say, always try to exceed your expectations. Search for your perfection. You might not ever get there, but I’m sure you’ll be happy with where it will take you.
