Books? Who’d have thought?

Some of you may remember last year I made a goal to read 50 books in a year.  At the end of this month is that year, and I’m proud to say I’m only 2 books away from that goal!

Over the past year I’ve noticed improvements in myself, I’ll spare you the details, but one thing that I’ve noticed has changed is my curiosity.  I’ve learned that if there ever is a problem I’m having, a subject I want to learn, or something I’d like to improve in myself, there has been someone on this earth who wrote a book about it.

Last night I couldn’t sleep for the life of me.  As I’m sure you all know, when you can’t sleep, anything and everything runs through your mind.  At about 12:30, I knew that if I kept lying there, it would only get worse, so I rolled over to turn on my bedroom light.  I reached out to grab a book on my night stand, and a I realized something.  I’m in the middle of reading 3 books.  They are all for different points of the day, and various frames of mind, but just think about what a change that is.

A year ago, I read one book a year, if I was lucky.  Today, I’m reading three books at the same time, and chances are I’ll be done with all of them by the end of the week.  As my dad would probably say, “for someone who can barely walk and chew gum, that’s pretty good.”
